2008 Good Neighbors of Mokena Annual Golf Outing

 

We would personally like to thank all the sponsors who made this event possible. All the golfers had a great time and we would like to express our gratitude to the golfers for making it to the event this year. Special thanks goes out to all the volunteers as well who made this event possible.

Who We Are

Good Neighbors of Mokena (GN) is a not-for-profit organization which assists in charitable, civil, and educational causes locally, statewide, and nationally. In the past two years, we have contributed significantly to the well-being of the community by helping out families in need, providing support to the local district school boards and the Mokena Fire Department. Presently, GN operates on a zero budget and relies entirely on the volunteer efforts of its members. As we expand our efforts to reach out to families and communities in need we are looking for more volunteers and people to help our cause.

 

Our Efforts

Good Neighbors of Mokena is dedicated to help out families in need. In order to provide support to families, GN organizes charitable events such as the 2006 Good Neighbors Golf Outing. Participation in this event has been phenomenal last year both in terms of individuals and in terms of sponsorships from local businesses. We are committed to making our events a success as success for us translates into well-being for the community.

 

Focus Areas

Good Neighbors of Mokena has contributed to the well-being of various different aspects of the community. The Annual percentage breakdown of the contributions made by GN is outlined in the Annual Contributions section. GN has formulated different programs and we have planned the allocation according to these programs. A brief summary of some of the programs is outlined below.

 

Building a Stronger Community by Helping out Families in Need       

  • The GN Emergency Fund helps out families that have encountered tragedies and need the support of the community to guide them in their time of need
  • The GN Holiday Initiative helps bring joy and happiness to the lives of the families that cannot afford to enjoy the happiness of Christmas, Thanksgiving and other holidays. 
  • In 2005, GN has contributed to the Keubler Family fund

 

Helping Out the Local District School Boards (St. Mary School / PTC)

GN understands that the future of the community lies in the proper nurturing of our children. Therefore, GN has taken the initiative to help out the local schools of Mokena. GN has contributed to the St. Mary / PTC Guardian Angel program. This program reaches out to the families of those children that have suffered devastating tragedies and are unable to cope with the challenges of their day to day lives. By donating to the Guardian Angel program, we feel that we can contribute to betterment of our future and that of our children.

 

The FISH Organization

In 2005, GN also contributed to the FISH organization. FISH is a local community based organization that offers food, clothing, counsel, overnight shelter, transportation assistance and other similar endeavors. By helping out the FISH organization, GN helps out those in need in the community.

 

Contributing to the Mokena Fire Department

In order to have a strong and prosperous community, Good Neighbors of Mokena has provided support to the different institutions of the community by contributing to them. One such institution to which GN has provided support is the Mokena fire department. Good Neighbors has provided financial support to the Burn Camp unit of the Fire Department to help them save the lives of the burn victims in the critical time of need. In 2004 and 2005, GN contributed to the Fire Prevention Education program to help make the adults and children in the community aware of the dangers of fire and provide them with appropriate training and education.

 

Sue Ward Benefit

In 2005, GN has also contributed to the Sue Ward Benefit.

 

Vision for the Future

Good Neighbors of Mokena believes in the well-being of the community for the present and more importantly for the future. Therefore GN is committed to take initiatives that will result in growth for the community for the future generations.
